Bulgarian death certificate for use abroad

• A duplicate from the municipality is needed (not the original), with the municipality's rectangular stamp on the back
• Notarized copies cannot be legalized
• The apostille is issued by the regional administration; the document is then translated and certified at the Ministry

Foreign death certificate

If the person died abroad, the document is translated into Bulgarian and the translator's signature is notarized. Whether an apostille is needed depends on the country – see foreign documents.
